I read online all the amazing things coconut oil could do and i knew for sure that i wanted a piece of that action. So I was all "heck yeah! Imma go get myself a bottle right now!" and I decided to use it consistently for a week... Well, as consistently as I could (because, ladies and gentlemen, I find it really hard to stick to a routine). Here's the low down of how it went.
Day 1 - Sunday, 13th October 2019
My hair was a freakin' mess so I had to wash it in the morning.
After washing with a simple, locally made shampoo and conditioner, I applied the coconut oil to my hair (which was damp from the washing) and let my hair dry. I was amazed by how less frizzy my hair felt after a few minutes. Even my mom was amazed. Then, I went to take a bath. I covered my hair with a shower cap so suds wouldn't get on it (Yes. Unfortunately, i'm one of those people who use the same soap to wash their face and body at the same time).
After my bathe, I poured a little bit of the coconut oil into my body lotion and used the lotion on every part of my body, except my face.
I rubbed the coconut oil directly on my face but I kinda used too much so I looked like a shoe that had just gotten polished.
For my eyelashes, I dipped a cotton swab into the bottle of coconut oil and applied it onto my lashes like I was applying mascara. I made sure to get to the roots of my lashes and the excess oil on the cotton swab was applied on my eyebrows.
By the end of the day, my skin was insanely soft. It had never been that moisturized in its life (which is kinda sad, when you think of it). I also thought my skin looked brighter but mum said it was all in my head.
I could actually push my hands through my hair 😱. That was a breakthrough for me.
My eyelashes and eyebrows were also insanely soft and bendy but I didn't see a difference in the length. 👀
I washed my face before going to bed and I didn't apply anything. The skin's gotta breathe!
Day 2 - Monday, 14th October 2019
When i woke up, I expected my face to be back to its dry self but it still felt soft and moisturized. Say whaaaaaaattttt?
Due to the killer rush hour I had to go through before I got to work (dammit, Monday!), I didn't primp my skin as much as I would have liked to. I applied my Coconut oil infused body lotion to my skin and the actual coconut oil to my face, eyelashes and eyebrows. Again, my face, lashes and brows were so soft.
By the end of the day, I was so tired 😪! I washed my face before bed with the intent of applying the coconut oil again but nope! The moment I got to my room, I went out like a light switch 🌚 .
Day 3 - Tuesday, 15th October 2019
I did the exact same thing I did on monday - apply body lotion on my body and apply coconut oil on my face, brows and lashes. My forehead actually looked clearer but I broke out quite a lot. I guess my skin wasn't used to so much oil on it.i didn't see any increase in the length of my eyelashes or my hair but my hair was definitely less frizzy and more tame. I could actually pack it in a bun. Your girl went out like a light switch again the moment she got home.🌚
Day 4 - Wednesday, 16th October 2019
I screamed with glee over my dark spots. They we're actually fading away!!! You wouldn't really notice unless you were familiar with my face and how the spots looked and I was MORE than super familiar with my dark spots. We've been besties since I was like 13! Also, my acne turned down a notch. I didn't notice it then, but it did.
Day 5 - Thursday, 16th October 2019
Ladies and gentlemen! I literally could not find any acne to pop out of stress at work! I was so surprised by it. And happy. My face felt soft like a baby's butt. Not smooth, but soft.
Day 6 - Friday, 17th October 2019
I combed my hair down and it was so easy. No tangles. No tears. No wishing I was bald! Also, I definitely noticed increase in the length. It was maybe just an inch but I definitely grew.
Day 7 - Saturday, 18th October
Last day!!!
I did a full checkup and my eyelashes and eyebrows were on point! I had a bath and afterwards, brushed them out with a clean mascara brush and they we're longer!
I noticed the day before that I couldn't find zits to pop as a way to cope with my stress. The rate of acne and acne scars on my face had significantly reduced.
I relaxed my hair because the coconut oil made new growths pop up on my scalp and the new growths were natural and I really can't maintain natural hair. After washing the relaxer off, I was surprised by the increment in length of my hair. I couldn't wait till it dried but I applied the coconut oil on it in its damp state, like I did on day one.
It dried and I cried.
They were tears of joy, though.
My hair was wayyy longer than it used to be!! 😱😱😱. I could actually pack my hair into a ponytail. My hair, which made the most ridiculously smallest nun when I packed it was actually making a ponytail!!!
Right then and there, I knew coconut oil had to and always will be a staple my life.
It should be a staple in yours too. 💜

| Oh, I wore a turban to bed btw. To protect my hair. |
