Lip service! 💋😘
The harmattan is here! The fog finna blinded me this morning. Plus, my lips were super dry! Of course, I rectified the situation real quick but I couldn't help but think "How many more people are going through lip issues because of this weather?"
So, this article was born!
Today, i'll be telling you how to have and retain plump, juicy (whatever you want to call it) lips.
1) DRINK WATER!💧💦
This is the ULTIMATE tip for juicy lips. Lip balms are good and all but if you're not moisturized from the inside, it's all for naught. Drink at least 7 glasses of water a day. Water is life. It helps your entire body to function properly. When you're dehydrated, you start to bloat and you get a pot belly and swollen lips in the most unattractive way possible. If you're not drinking water, then who even are you, anyway?😅 Carry a chic-looking water bottle with you wherever you go so you can flaunt it while you stay hydrated 😏
2) Lip balm is your best friend
Right next to drinking water is applying lip balm. Buy a LOT!
There should be:
One on your dressing table
One in your bathroom closet
One in your bag or purse
One in your car compartment
One in your school locker
One in your makeup bag
One in your work space
Basically everywhere! There should be one everywhere but if you can't afford to buy about 7 different lip balms, make sure you take the one you have with you everywhere you go. Don't forget it at home!
3) Exfoliate
Scrub your lips and remove the dead skin cells on it. Do this once every week to let your lips look and feel soft as ever.
You could use an old toothbrush for this. Simply apply a bit of lip balm on your lips and use the toothbrush to scrub away all the dead skin cells that softened up once you applied the balm.
You could also use sunflower oil and sugar.
4) Biting and licking your lips isn't sexy!
You're not Anastasia Steele 😂😂😂. Don't do it. Ever! The thing is, when you bite or lick your lips, your saliva gets on them AND YOUR SALIVA ONLY MAKES THEM DRYER! And licking your lips after that makes it more dry and doing it again makes it more dry and.... It's simply a vicious cycle that doesn't end and your lips will look like very unattractive raisins. If you have a habit of licking or chewing your lips, cut it out immediately!
5) Vaseline doesn't moisturize your lips
Don't rely on Vaseline. Please. Petroleum jelly doesn't seep into the skin to moisturize it. It simply forms a glossy layer over your skin. You don't need that. You need something that will soak in. Invest in an actual balm.
The same thing goes for lip gloss. Most just form a glossy layer over your lips like Vaseline. You need a balm, not a gloss.
6) Use what you have 💁
If you're broke at the moment and can't buy a balm, why not just use your body lotion? This sounds outrageous but I've tried it out and it actually works. I use Jergens Shea Butter lotion and it seeps into my lips perfectly and makes them super moisturized.
7) Block out the sun 😎
Sunblock is a very good idea for the harmattan season where it's always hot and dry. Protect your lips from the sun's UV rays so it doesn't turn a dark color or becomes dry. Apply the sunblock generously.
And those are the tips I have for you today, if you have any more drop it in the comments below.
Happy harmattan ❤
